Michael Kokesh, JD

Michael Kokesh

Managing Director

Mr. Kokesh brings 25 years of experience as a lawyer, entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and general counsel of private and publicly-traded companies. He combines his knowledge of corporate and securities law, estate tax and trust law to provide an unparalleled level of service and investment insight.

Prior to joining Ramparts, Mr. Kokesh worked at Morgan Stanley & Co., in San Francisco.

He started his career as a tax and transaction lawyer, working with major law and accounting firms in San Francisco and London, specializing in domestic and international business transactions. He has served as an executive officer, founder or co-founder of four successful, venture capital-financed medical technology companies.

Mr. Kokesh is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder where he received a BA/BS in Distributive Studies (Molecular Biology, Political Science and English Literature) and earned his degree of Juris Doctor from the University of California - Hastings College of Law.

He is currently registered with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) as a registered representative and with the Securities & Exchange Commission as an investment advisor. He is also licensed by the State of California several other states.

Stevenson Browne

Managing Director

Securities Research Dun & Bradstreet, Portland, OR 1974-76 Commercial Credit Analyst Developed investment formulae in 1975 and invested personally until founding Monetary Management Corporation in 1984. Worked briefly in mortgage origination in Beverly Hills

Mr. Browne is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College, Claremont, California where he received a B.A. in Economics and a graduate of Willamette Management College, Portland Oregon where he received a B.A. in Accounting.

He is currently registered the Securities & Exchange Commission and the State of California and several other states as a registered investment advisor.

Robert Baer

Managing Director

Mr. Baer began his career as a case officer with the CIA's Directorate of Operations (now the National Clandestine Service) in 1976 and during his twenty-one year CIA career, Mr. Baer served in various countries in the Middle East. He is considered one of the world's foremost authorities on the geopolitical affairs for the Middle East and North Africa.

Mr. Baer is the author of four New York Times bestsellers including: Sleeping with the Devil, about the Saudi royal family and its relationship with the United States; and See No Evil, which recounts Baer's years as a top CIA operative. and was the basis for the acclaimed filmSyriana, which earned George Clooney an Oscar for his portrayal of Baer. Mr. Baer writes regularly for Time.com and has contributed to Vanity Fair, the Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post.

Mr. Baer received an A.B. from Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service, and he is proficient in Arabic, French, German, Persian, Russian and English.

Thilo Bayrhoffer

Executive Director

Dr. Bayrhoffer, a physician by training, is a successful executive with a background in clinical development, strategy consulting, investment banking, and financial advisory. After starting his career at The Boston Consulting Group, Dr. Bayrhoffer attained global leadership positions with life-science companies and financial institutions in Europe, US, India, and Latin America.

As an accomplished entrepreneur, he has successfully executed growth strategies for companies ranging from early stage start-ups to mature companies, advancing innovative technologies in the life sciences and healthcare IT from concept to product launch.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Bayrhoffer has developed an extensive network among entrepreneur and business leaders around the world. Building on their strong network in life science and technology hubs such as San Francisco, Princeton, Munich, Bangalore, and Shanghai, Dr. Bayrhoffer and his partners at Ramparts provide access to unique investment opportunities.

Dr. Bayrhoffer holds a PhD/MD degree from the University of Mainz, Germany and an MBA from the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester, NY. He is fluent in English, German, Spanish, and has a working knowledge of French. Dr. Bayrhoffer is involved as a mentor and coach with young entrepreneurs from his 'second-home' in Costa Rica.
